Discounted Contact Lenses and Eye Frames are Available

discounted_contact_lenses Almost 100 percent of people around the world are afraid of losing their eyesight. However, about one in four adults in the United Kingdom have not seen their optometrist in the last two years. Why? They cite cost as the reason for not having their eyes checked. In this circumstance, people feel ignorance is bliss. Knowing they need glasses means they will have to shell out a small fortune to buy frames and contact lenses, and maybe insurance.

There is help. The NHS is there to help families and individuals needing glasses. They will cover the cost of sight tests and provide coupons for glasses if the individual is younger than 18 years old, and in school.

Shopping online can also be cost effective as the suppliers do not have to factor in the cost of opening a store and paying employees. There are many internet sites that offer discounted contact lenses perfect for all types of eyes.

In the end, there is no excuse for not taking care of one's eyes.

Special Effect Contact Lenses

special_effect_contact_lenses Some believe a person's eyes are the windows to their soul. Does that hold true for people who wear contacts? What about people who wear colored or special effect contacts? There are so many contact lens varieties out there, no one can be certain that the stranger on the street truly has blue, green, or gremlin eyes.

A new addition to the colored contact lens possibilities are special effect contact lenses. One special effect lens is the "Knockout" lens. This specific lens is white with red X's. "Target" lenses have red, white and black circles. There are also contacts that have a smiley faces, flowers, or cat eyes. Many of these special effect lenses are suitable only for Halloween, as they truly cast an eerie effect on the person who wears them.

Yet, as with most contacts one most posses a doctor's note to attain these contacts. Like other contact lenses, these require special fitting to ensure no damage is done to the eye.

Color Contact Lenses Regulation

color_contact_lenses Officials in Japan have decided to regulate colored contact lenses. Regulations will be similar to the medicinal lenses people use for correcting their eyesight. This decision comes after complaints and reports that color contact lenses can damage people's eyes.

In Japan, colored contact lenses are available without obtaining a doctor's prescription. Approximately 5 million colored lenses are sold annually, coming from South Korea and/or Singapore. So far, least 165 people have suffered injuries due to these lenses in the past two and a half years.

Under these new regulations, stores which sell these lenses must give consumers information about the risks involved when colored contact lenses.
